Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on biorx.uk, why they are used, and how you control them. It should be read alongside the Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies (local storage, session storage and pixels) do comparable things. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, we may only place cookies on your device without consent where they are strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested. Everything else requires your prior, informed consent.

Categories we use

These make the site work. Without them, pages will not load correctly or basic security cannot be maintained. They cannot be switched off through our banner.

biorx_consentStores your cookie choices so we do not ask again on every page6 months
biorx_sessionMaintains page state during a visitSession

These help us understand which pages are read, which are ignored, and where the site is failing people. The data is used in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you and we do not share it with advertisers.

If you do not consent, these are never set and no analytics requests are made.

These remember choices you make so the site behaves the way you left it.

What we do not use

BioRx sets no advertising, marketing, retargeting, social media tracking or data-broker cookies, and embeds no third-party advertising technology. We do not participate in any cross-site advertising framework.

On your first visit, a banner appears before any non-essential cookie is set. It gives you three equally prominent options: Accept all, Reject all, and Manage preferences. Rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting: one click, on the first layer.

Nothing beyond the strictly necessary category loads until you make a choice. Continuing to scroll or browse is not treated as consent.

Your choice is stored for 6 months, after which we will ask again. We will also ask again if we introduce a new cookie in a category you previously declined.

  • On the site: open Cookie settings in the footer of any page. Change your choices and save. Withdrawal takes effect immediately, and cookies in the categories you have turned off are deleted where we are technically able to do so.
  • In your browser: you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working. Instructions are available in the help pages for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out while consent was in place.

Changes

If we add, remove or change a cookie, we will update this page and, where consent is affected, re-request it. The version date is shown at the top.
