We read everything sent to us. We would particularly like to hear about errors, missing evidence, and anywhere our wording overstates what a study actually showed.

Goes straight to our team. We keep what you write only for as long as it takes to answer you.

What we can and cannot help with

We can help with: corrections and factual challenges; requests for content in an accessible format; permission and licensing requests; data protection requests; press and academic enquiries; and general feedback on the site.

We cannot help with: personal medical questions, dosing, protocols, where to obtain a compound, or evaluating a supplier. We do not answer these, and asking a second time will not change the answer. Please see the Medical Disclaimer.

In a medical emergency call 999. For urgent non-emergency advice call NHS 111. This inbox is not monitored around the clock and cannot help urgently.

Making a correction report useful

The fastest corrections are the specific ones. If you can, include: the page URL; the exact passage; what you believe is wrong; and a source. You do not need to identify yourself or explain your interest. We assess the argument, not the person making it.

Complaints and escalation

If something has gone wrong, we would rather fix it than defend it.

Stage 1: tell us. Use the contact form to tell us what happened, what you would like us to do, and any relevant links or correspondence. We acknowledge within 3 working days and aim to give a full response within 20 working days. If we need longer, we will tell you why and when to expect an answer.

Stage 2: review. If you are not satisfied, reply and ask for a review. The complaint will be looked at by someone not involved in the original response, who will write to you within a further 20 working days. That concludes our internal process.

Stage 3: external routes. Depending on the subject matter:

  • Data protection: the Information Commissioner's Office : ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113. You may complain to the ICO at any time; you do not have to exhaust our process first.
  • Accessibility: the Equality Advisory and Support Service : equalityadvisoryservice.com, 0808 800 0082.
  • Suspected side effects of a medicine or device: the MHRA Yellow Card scheme : yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk.
  • Consumer matters, if we ever sell anything: Citizens Advice consumer service . 0808 223 1133, citizensadvice.org.uk.
